Race in Raleigh

Postby walkerranch » Sun Jul 18, 2010 3:26 pm

Anybody heard about a race next weekend in Raleigh at Crabtree? I'm thinking of going up there to ride and was wondering if it would fit in the schedule.

OK. I've ridden Crabtree a lot, but it's been a few years. Any idea how long a lap is in miles? I may give that a try even though I haven't done much riding since the 06/06 heat wave race. I think I'm still recovering from that one. Anyone else interested? I'm thinking 2 laps since I plan on riding Friday, Saturday and Sunday up there.

Someone posted the lap is 1.5 miles with half on road and half on trail???? What kinda race is that? Maybe that's wrong, but for $25 I would expect more.

I might be up for going.
Just rode LC on Sat - it's in great shape.
Also hit "Somewhere in Raleigh" - that place is awesome!

I don't think it's a 1.5 mile loop - not when they have experts doing only 3 laps...

The 1.5 mile lap, half on road/half off, is for the kids.

The normal lap is 5 miles, all trail.

Somewhere in Raleigh? 286? or some place other than that? help a brotha out. I need some new trail buzz. Someone from Raleigh was telling me about some other trails along 40. he was at BC this weekend, but didn't stay long ...it was hot.

10 mile race might be a fun way to spend the morning with an afternoon ride elsewhere.

Yep, that was it. Haven't heard of anything new, but there is Rock n Roll rigth there too - supposed to be pretty technical.

I think you would be doing a 15 mile race (Sport?). The Men Expert do 4 laps, Sport 3 and Beg 2. The women do one less lap in each cat.

"Somewhere in Raleigh"? First time I have heard that....286 is a sweet trail, but they have been handing out tickets, so a little bird tells me. The other trail is Rocky Road - and yes, it is gnarly in some spots.

Want to ride one of the best trails in that area? Get out to New Light - ride the Gauntlet.

Yea, I think SBA and a few others dubbed it that in some pics & videos a while back.

I heard about the ticket deal too - depends on who you talk to... Saw at least a dozen others on it Sat (think we were going backwards...)

New Light is on the list, just haven't made it there yet.

I've ridden all over Cary and Raleigh as I lived there in the mid 90's. A lot has changed since then and some of my favorite trails were 'developed' on.

I was not going to race 15 miles in this heat. I was just thinking of something fun and 10 would do it considering I want to ride Friday afternoon, saturday morning and nite and sunday morning. I would ride 10 there anyway so why not have it be during a race.

Still thinking about it.

Walker - Where are you thinking of riding this weekend? I'll be riding in that area Friday, Saturday, & Sunday as well. I'll be hitting the new trails at Briar Chapel on Friday - heard good things. Maybe we could get up and get some riding in.
